When the Rain Changed Our Plans
I want you to picture this : It was just about 6 p.m. and the sky was so dark, like a dark grey velvet curtain pulled across the evening. But the clouds started moving so I thought maybe the rain had skipped us, but out of nowhere the clouds burst open. The rain came pouring down it's loud, endless, with thunder rumbling and lightning painting the sky.
My tuition kids had just arrived before the rain started to pour, but when their books open and ready to study for their exams next week. But instead of lessons, the universe handed us something else. The power went out, the inverter refused to help, and suddenly we were left in this cozy little darkness with only the sound of rain for company.
And you know what? It was magical 🌧️✨. We played songs, sang together, laughed, and even danced a little. The storm outside felt scary, but inside, it was pure warmth. Some of the kids even drifted off to sleep, their tiny heads resting peacefully while waiting for their parents. One by one, families came to pick them up, while my mom in the kitchen lovingly prepared semiya for the four siblings still with us. Just as she finished, their parents arrived, and off they went too.
What was supposed to be a regular study session turned into a rainy night of togetherness, music, and soft little memories that I’ll keep tucked close. Sometimes the most unexpected evenings are the ones that feel like home. 💕
